Contemporary design hand carved in marble and pestle in tzalam wood.
The name “Molcajete” comes from the Nahuatl (Aztec language of Mexico) words temolcaxitl and mollicaxtli, meaning stone sauce bowl. This concept has been translated into a contemporary mortar and pestle hand carved from marble and tzalam wood.

Ayres design utility and simple objects with a primary aesthetic. All basic shapes are unique, remembering prehistoric utensils. Inspired by Mexican historical, natural and primitive roots, it highlights the beauty of the materials, design and quality. Ayres work with natural materials like Guayacán and Tzalam woods, lava rocks and natural leathers. Their processes are completely handmade allowing each object be a unique piece. Ayres seek to establish fair terms of trade with artisans which can offer objects 100% handmade with high-quality materials and the most beautiful handcraft work.
