Huaraches, a shoe with legacy

Do you know where these trendy summer essentials come from? The history of the famous Mexican huaraches goes back many years before the first Spanish boats reached America. These sandals were essential for the indigenous people from different ethnics across Mexico for a long time. The name Huarache itself comes from the purepecha dialect “kwarachi”, dialect spoken in the nowcalled Michoacan state in central Mexico, but the shoe was popular in many other areas like Yucatan and Chiapas.   On December 2nd, 2017 we went crazy and decided to open a pop-up store in the beautiful city of Wiesbaden, Germany.  We meet a lovely lady from who we rented a beautiful 2-floor shop for 1 month! We put together some recycled furniture and covered it with craft paper, beautiful lights, a nice Hôtel Costes playlist, videos of our artisans in action and, of course, our freshly shipped product selection from Mexico!
